We met online two years ago when you sent me a link to a podcast in response to my tweet. Thank you for being thoughtful and sharing a useful talk with me. Your act of kindness made me curious about the book you'd written, so I bought it, read it, and enjoyed the wonderful collection of lessons on perspective and privilege. 

Thank you for your support the last couple years. Thank you for your thought-provoking blog posts. I always enjoy reading them. 

Thank you for being you. I'm grateful to have met you.

At the time, I was writing a piece on fear myself, so I was reading everything I could find on the topic. Naturally, I got your book and read it. I reached out to you to see if we could meet online and talk about your book. Thank you for agreeing to meet with me. What I saw in you during that talk was the extremely rare – and priceless – combination of critical thinking, honesty, and humility, each of which is both valuable and very hard to find.
