Ebrahim Hamedi

Dear Ebi:

You've been on my mind...

I don't remember how old I was when I first heard your voice, but I do remember I was eleven when I first listened to your song Pichak from beginning to end – and I was mesmerized. I liked the music, loved your voice, and understood all the words – I had just learned Farsi, so this was a big deal. I didn't really know who you were... I had just taken one of my dad's cassette tapes and played it in my room. It was only after I heard you sing Pichak that I learned your name.

Since then, your magnificent voice has filled my house day after day for four decades. Your songs have brought back memories and caused nostalgia... and they have turned sad moments into joyful ones. I love your work – the lyrics, the music, and, above all, your captivating voice. I have been to many of your concerts – and have often been lucky to find a seat near the stage – and witnessed your love for your fans and your humility.

I'm so grateful for you and your lovely voice and your beautiful heart. Thank you, Mr. Voice, for your warmth, for all the memories, and for your music!

Love...

Noosha Ravaghi
